I was born in this hospital, it's nice but I long for more. I heard others talking about a place called "the outside." What is outside? Is it a whole other world?
I'm quite content here...I guess, I don't really know what emotions are. I was never taught what they, or anything, was. But I'm teaching myself. I thought it was okay here...until one day...I started hearing screams from others. Someone told me they take all deficient patients and "put them to sleep." (It was a more humane way of saying "kill") They said I was deficient - but they kept me alive. There's this tube in my arm, I think they called it an IV, that pumps stuff into my bloodstream. They said it will help make me feel better.
I've been here my whole life...but I'm not alone. I spend my days with Teddy. The little girl smiles as she holds out a small, pink, stuffed teddy bear, the left eye beginning to fall off. A very kind girl gave him to me before she left. ...She just said he couldn't take it anymore and was going to escape at midnight.
I've tried to escape two times myself, but I didn't get far. Being away from that machine makes it hard for me to stay conscious and they've returned me to my room both times. He was a major help in planning my escape. I tried to keep our plan hidden but they found it and said he had to be punished. I used to spend so much time with him, and always talk about my day, but for some reason...he just stopped speaking one day.
One day, a man much older than me asked if I missed my family. What is a family? I see them everyday and wonder what they're life is like. I see the children - they all look so happy. I long for that feeling...I-..I want someone to care, I want someone to go home to, I want to experience life not confined in this place...I just want to be free.

| Colin says -his tail wags- AWESOME! I'll go and try to find a pretty one! -runs of out the room and the building and soon finds a rose on a bush and smiles, picking it but trys not to get pricked and runs back inside- Be careful, it has thorns but it smells nice! :D |
