It wasn't so much the darkness that scared you, rather, it was the silence. The horrific, dead silence.
Your voice has already disappeared from calling into the dark and from speaking to yourself so you won't feel so lonely. You have zero recollection, of anything. Who you are, only the quiet knows.
The only thing you know to do is walk. Run, skip, jog, it's all the same. Your body never tires.
There is no telling how long you've been here, no telling how far you've gone, if you've even made progress. The hunger, though, that was as gnawing as the cold.
Ah, the cold. You'd figure it would've rendered your body numb, but alas, you've been able to feel it biting your bones for as long as you remember.
Walking, infinitely walking. Something drives you to keep moving through the chill that has taken over.
"Hello?" You whisper hoarsely to what seems to be light. Walking turns to running as you desperately try to catch up.
Then, the light is just there, right in front of you. It's dull, but after so much darkness, it's blinding.
Your eyes adjust and before you stands a two-headed beast. Each great draconian neck has a beautiful collar, below which hangs a row of delicate-looking orbs. In one of its clawed hands is an intricate lantern, which is held before your face.
Heat radiates from the dragon and one of its crested heads reaches forward to breathe on you, silver eyes glowing and glittering.
Steam is swirling about when the leviathan turns around and moves away, placing the lantern on a contraption that rises from its back.
It's leaving you!
You have to spring to get to the dragon, who in turn flicks its jeweled tail. Follow, the steam whispers...
It slows down considerably and leaves you wondering whether the beast is malignant or benign. Surely it would have eaten you already if it were planning on it.
You look down at yourself and realize that your chest is now radiating some sort of pulsing light. It has to be a... heartbeat?
