The true nature of any given being is a permanent thing. You are born the way you are meant to be, whether you are raised one way or another. If you are destined to be a serial killer, so you are. On the other hand, if it is in your future to protect the innocent, so be it.
At one point, a long time ago, my brother and I saw the upkeep of a great library that served as both a vault of ancient language and the repository of the teachings of the Cycle of Life and Death. While my brother taught those scholars who came to study, I served as the library's gatekeeper and sent away those with dark intentions. Over time.... My brother judged that my repeated exposure to the evils infected my mind.
I grew furious with the malevolence in the hearts of me, and as I supposedly descended deeper into madness... I discovered I could quell this anger by cutting the evil from the men who possessed it. Unfortunately, these reliefs were short-lived as my so-called "butcher's rage" would resurge even stronger...
At some point, my brother pleaded with me to see reason, but man's madness would not fade on its own. He deemed me irredeemable and the despondent brother tried to strike me down. He succeeded, and I waited eagerly for death's release. It never came.
I was captured by some greater power and tumbled for what seemed like an eternity through realities.
When I finally emerged, I fell deep into some city's sewers. "Insane" with fury, I languished in my newfound home, driven senseless by rage.
That is until, by happenstance, I caught a familiar smell...
Believing that the familiar stench would would guide me to solace, I traced my brother, but he has been thus far out of my reach....
