Mia is a sort of boogey-woman. As a beautiful being in a time of darkness, she is often thought of as a temptress (unfortunately, she really is). Mia is an anti-succubus and tends to avoid men, as they give her nightmares. Miasm is the daughter of a revered dream weaver - the only reason she is accepted in her community. In her time (medieval-ish), bad dreams are common, and her father was the only one within a hundred miles who could cure these nightmares.
Mia is at one point discovered in someone's dream by her father, and a panic arises much in the shape of the Salem Witch Trials. Her father attempts to defend her, but other people begin saying that she invaded their dreams as well and tried to possess them. As an anti-succubus, Mia does indeed walk in peoples' dreams, but only as a part of her nature, and does not rape people. A trial is held and Miasm barely escapes through her sleeping father's dream. (This was planned out.)
Miasm is madly in love with a woman named E'voi, who is a fallen angel. E'voi saw Mia's distressed aura and appeared to her, not able to foresee the passion they would soon feel for each other. As an outcast herself, E'voi had quickly taken to Mia and they soon roamed the world with each other, seeing what others could not. E'voi took Mia places on wing and Mia in turn showed E'voi how to enter the dream state. Together, they become rulers of the universe! Just kidding. They just live happily ever after.
