Marella
First and only of her kind
Doesn’t feel alone and lonely, but feels special and unique
Likes Carrot Cake and Goddess Premium Coffee
She will brave scorching heat to get her coffee (iced, of course)
Loves the cold, and was looking for a wintery house in Blizzard Realm
However, her mother was not thrilled about that, and insisted she stay at home
Marella wouldn’t have it, and continued to search for a new place to live
Stumbling in the snow, she happens across strange frost boy, none other than Jack Frost!
He and her make a bet, which she loses, thus, he turns her into a Frost Zoku
However, rather than being upset she is thrilled, because it means she can live in Blizzard Realm!
Marella was once a Desert Zokuleon, living in Ravi-Sorin with her parents and a dozen or so siblings. And while they enjoyed basking in the warm, sandy sun, she found it that it was never for her. She hated the heat and the way it scorched her scutes. She often felt like she was about to melt! Therefore, as soon as she was old enough, she began seeking out a more suitable climate for her, much to her mother’s displeasure. It soon became a hot button topic between the two, that would erupt in fights and end in silence that would sometimes last for days. Still, she never faltered in her goal to find a home, not a residence.
One day, when searching Blizzard Realm for the perfect accommodations, she stumbled upon a strange boy with icy blue skin. It was none other than local troublemaker, Jack Frost. Looking for mischief, the human proposed a bet to Marella - that he was so unpredictable that not even the Zokuleon could predict what he would do next. However, seeing her Desert scales, he mistakenly agreed to change her Inferno, if she was correct, and Frost, like him, if she not. Slyly, Marella agreed throwing the match. Thus, she was changed into lovely blue snow!
Now, Marella wanders Blizzard Realm in solitude, though never alone. Marella enjoys her time spent alone as much as she enjoys meeting a fellow traveller. And while being the only Frost Zoku about takes its toll, Marella always remains in high spirits, knowing she is who she is meant to be. She is totally one of a kind, unique.
Description: Marella is a compilation of snow and ice. Her solid structure and Zokuleon orb is made from ice, but her scales and spines have a snowy like appearance, like she is covered in frost. This is especially prominent when she sheds, for they come off like fine powder. Her orb is carefully tended under a layer of frost as well. But underneath the crunchy, snow is the orb - crafted in blue ice. It also matches her horn, when she chooses to display it, during fortune telling. Her claws have also been sharpened in the icicle like points that can cause damage to any enemy or prey she encounters.
Personality: Marella sees herself as an optimist. She is willing to search for a solution to any problem, and as a result finding perspective others cannot. For example, many would find being the only one of her kind as curse, but Marella sees herself as being unique and one of a kind. She also has a bit of ancient wisdom that many four times her age will never be able to experience. As a result, she is very good at reading situations without having to examine her orb for telltale signs. However, it often leads to her becoming frustrated when others do not exhibit the same kind of common sense.
Strengths: This Zokuleon has adapted to the freezing temperatures on Blizzard Realm, making her quite warm blooded for a lizard. She also has a good memory, and know where to find shelter when an especially harsh blizzard is coming her way. Marella also practices the power of positive thinking and is quite clever. It allows her to get her way, even when it doesn’t seem like it. She also has the gift of foresight, like most of her species, allowing her to plan out every little details - even her day-to-day actions. And in that, she excels. She is an excellent planner, and will often schedule someone’s whole year, if she is allowed!
Weaknesses: Iced Coffee made of Goddess Premium Roast and a slice of Carrot Cake is her ultimate weakness. Marella loves to curl up with these two things and a good book in the afternoon, even if she is telling herself she is dieting. She can also not stand the heat. Even as a Desert Zokuleon, she felt like she was constantly melting in anything warmer than ice freezing temperature. Her hubris is also another weakness of hers. When she finds someone that is more clever and wiser than her, it often becomes difficult for her to comprehend. But once she has “reprogrammed” her train of thought, she can learn from her mistakes and grow as a person.
Biography: Marella was born a Desert Zokuleon in Ravi-Sorin. There she is lived in a crowded house with her mother, father, and several siblings. It was almost as stifling in that home as the heat of the desert, so Marella attempted to leave it as much as possible as a young Zokuleon. She would do anything just to get out of the house; traveling far and wide for days at a time. While this often left her mother worried sick, she felt freedom and exuberance pumping through her veins. And it was how the cold blooded creature fell in love with the frosty Blizzard Realm.
She decided to build her home there, much to her parents’ horror, and thus set out on a long journey to find her new place of residence. However, the ice and snow became quite daunting for her, as the blizzards were fierce. Thus, her progressed slowed, until one day, she met a boy with icy blue skin. He introduced himself as Jack Frost and showed mocking sympathy towards her condition. Marella, frustrated, decided to make a bet with him - to predict what he was going to do next. If she won, he promised to bestow an Inferno Pandoria Box on her. But if she lost, Marella would be changed into a WinterFrost Zokuleon.
Because, Jack had misread the situation, the Desert Zokuleon heartily agreed. With her orb, she could see clearly what the boy planned to do. In a stroke of genius, she sealed her fate. Jack was smug, when he discovered that the Zokuleon had been wrong, but Marella was far more smug. At last, she could transverse Blizzard Realm in relative comfort! Now all she needs left is a place to call her own.
Short Story:
"MARELLA!" Came the loud familiar screech of her mother, calling out to her in a panic. The Desert Zokuleon could be heard shuffling in the cool, dark clay structure what made up their living arrangements. However, her daughter was no where to be seen, nor was she anywhere near Ravi-Sorin and its harsh desert climate.
Several hundreds of of thousands legs away, sat the small reptile on top of a pile of snow too dense for her to fall in. In front of her stood a young man, just coming of age. His skin was a translucent blue like ice, and his eyes shown brightly with a mischievous air. He was not called Jack Frost for naught.
"So what do you say?" He questioned, playfully, "Will you take the deal or not?"
"You have both boxes on you?" Marella countered back and she pondered this strange mixture of helpfulness and oddity.
"Of course, of course!" Frost, the boy, waved his hand at her, "Already you are acting like a hot blooded Inferno pet." He assured.
Marella pondered this for a second longer, "Ok, but what is stopping you from doing something else? Even If I say what you plan to do as you do it, one of us will be bound to feel like the other tricked us."
"And what do you propose then?"
"I know! I will write it down, and then once you perform the act, we will look together. How does that sound?"
"Yeah, yeah. Just hurry up already."
Taking her orb, Marella complied to the strange boy and looked deep into the future. The bet, she had somehow stumbled upon out of pity what a simple one: Prove that the Zokuleon's power of foresight was accurate. If she could successfully predict what Jack Frost intended to do next, then he would reward her with an Inferno Pandoria Box. However, if she failed, she would be cursed to become frost and ice like him.
Peering deep into the future, was admittedly hard. It was a talent that had to be honed and perfected. However, even a young Zokuleon could read Jack's movements with the help of their crystal ball. And Marella was exceptionally gifted. She could see clearly what he intended.
"Alright, I have seen the future." Marella declared looking up from her looking ball. She then proceeded to hop down from her perch, to the ground below. There, she wrote out the words Does Backflip in the snow, where the boy could not see, before climbing back up. She could hardly keep a sly smile on her lips.
On cue, Jack Frost sent a white ball of snow flying towards the Zokuleon, who dodged skillfully. Still, he did not stop him from grinning from ear to ear, when he saw the words scrawled in the snow. "I guess the Zokuleon aren't so gifted." He crowed as he pulled out the wintery box from beneath his jacket.
"Oh I wouldn't be so sure about that," Marella beamed equally as wide.
Jack’s jaw dropped in horror. "You mean you wanted to be a Frost Zokuleon? But there are no others out there!”
Marella gave him a knowing look, her features soft and thoughtful at the consideration. "I hate the heat. I cannot stand it actually. That is why I came to this region. Only, I was still too warm to survive. But now? I can blend in quite nicely. Besides… there is something special about being one of a kind, don't you think?"
