Now Listening To: Louder Than Thunder by The Devil Wears Prada
Blessed on December 11, 2015. Thank you Seme!
"End it. I want to end it all.
Pain. Sorrow. Joy. Happiness. Life... all must end."
Blood dripped upon an invisible surface where she trod. All was darkness here. nothing but an endless black void. It was peaceful here. Quiet. Uneventful. Dead.
But the darkness was restless. So much light. So wakeful and alive were the remainder of the child's mind that it sickened her. Woke her from her subconscious slumber.
Of course, all humans were children, really, compared to such an ancient thing.
Coal feathers ruffled as much as her clotting blood would allow. Yes, the blood was hers. As long as she lives, she bleeds. Until the bitter end, she must live. Therefore, it must end.
"Not just her," she corrected herself, "All must end. All that was, is and will be must die."
Her own raspy voice grated against her ears. Each breath was laborious, though instinctual and therefore automatic. Her lungs strained with each inhalation. Her eyes burned at the thought of light.
The fact that she could envision even her own beautiful yet terrible shadow-veiled form triggered an itch from deep within her skull.
To scratch. To cut. To harm. To Maim.
To Die.
She wanted so badly simply to die.
But she had to bring everyone else down with her first.
Echoes of voices, though distant as it seemed, pounded in her head.
"Curse those wretched fabrications...!"
Yet she knew she was no better. They were all convoluted structures imitating moving corpses, feigning souls.
All this within the mind of a child.
A human trying so desperately to keep herself alive inside.
She stopped at a fractured mirror, manifesting out of nowhere just as everything else seemed to do. Pieces were scattered across the "floor" which could not be seen. no scratches or smudges or blemishes of any other kind.
Even her own blood no longer remained.
"Souls like mirrors..." She mused aloud, though no one heard.
"...reflect the self, and break so easily."
She retrieved a shard at her feet, her blood sliding across it like crimson mercury.
"Only fragments remain..."
Her grip tightens.
"...but they continue to mirror, distorted as they are."
It breaks in her hands, the tiny splinters embedded into her skin until they disappear; absorbed into her visage, as if they were part of her all along, without so much as leaving a scratch.
Yet she continued to bleed.
"Until at last, it is destroyed."
Her cold, spiteful gaze left the mirror, and back to the darkness as she began to pace away even as the darkness consumed her again.
"I..."
I Will End Her.
