Together Forever, as it was meant to be.
My name is Okeechobee, and I am an Arctic Jinx. When I first began my life living with an owner, I was very wild and destructive. Everything I touched I would break for the sheer thrill of it. No matter what my owner tried, I could not be tamed. I never knew how exasperated they were and how ready to be rid of me they were. Not until the day the Gurahdi, the Obsideon's and the Stignightus came looking for owners.
After a little consideration, my owner decided that they could not put up with anymore, and threw me in the pound in the favor of another. I was so shocked at this. I knew they were angry with me, but I didn't think they would be so willing to give me up just like that. So devastated I was to find myself unwanted, I worried about my future, and what would happen to me.
It seemed Pandoria took pity on me, for not long after I was thrown in my kennel, a fan of my breed came along. With her bodyguards Mirona, Riko and HollowedWolf in tow, Catilena took a look around to see what kind of pets had been abandoned for the sake of the new arrivals. I pressed myself to the back of my cage, unsure of what to do, when she came to my door.
She stared at me inside my cage, mesmerized by me. I grew frightened, though I don't know why, and I gave a sort of bark at her. Her pets behind her did not like this, and they glared at me from beyond the door. However, Catilena hushed them and sent Riko to go get Charitee.
When the Gurahdi arrived, Catilena asked her about me and how this came to be. The kind bird told her my story, and Catilena immediately frowned. Looking at me, we both stared deeply into each other's eyes. Her eyes watering, Catilena fished into her knapsack and pulled out a pouch, handing it to Charitee. After looking through it, the Gurahdi grinned at Catilena and unlocked my door, allowing her entry into my "lair".
She carefully walked up to me, hand out, and I continued to growl at her, even though her Terror Gourix was right by her side. When she got close to me, she sat down crosslegged and patiently waited for me to make the next move. I carefully crept up to her, prepared to jump away to safety if needed, and I extended a claw out to her. Slowly but surely, our forelimbs connected until our palms met. I sat down in front of her and bobbed my head, accepting her invitation to leave this place with her, and I went home with her.
After making it there, Catilena fed me up and gave me so many toys to play with, Catilena told me that she and her friends would help me find a forever home. She explained to me that she rescued me from the pound because as a Jinx I deserved better than to rot in a kennel or be adopted to a possibly abusive/neglectful new owner. She said she would have liked to have kept me, but she was already trying to woo another Jinx, and she just did not have room for me. I nodded in sad understanding and sat in my own little corner.
For days I watched her play with her pets, though she looked a little sad to me and I didn't know why. I knew it had something to do with me, for she kept looking at me every so often with that sad look in her eyes.
One day, she went to go visit the jinx she was trying to befriend, and learned from her that if she chose Catilena to be her new owner, she would have no problem with sharing her with another jinx.
I was sleeping when this happened, so when she came home she tackled me off my bed and squeezed the breath out of me. I pushed her off with a sort of squawk and stared at her with wide eyes. Wrapping her arms around me again, Catilena promised to never let me go, no matter what happened, and I was happy. I wrapped her up in my wings and touched my chin to her back.
So now, I have a loving, more appreciative owner who loves me for who I am. No longer am I the destructive, bratty Jinx I once was. Now, I am Catilena's cuddle buddy and noble steed, taking her all across Mistica on my back in the air and on land.
