BACKSTORY
paisley is an entity born from a multitude of negative emotions: hatred, envy, despair. as such, he does not have a tangible body, nor can he be seen by the living. he exists in a world between life and death; while he can only barely influence objects in the realm of the living, he can easily interact with live beings when they sleep - more specifically, when they dream.
being a creature of dark and pessimistic feelings, paisley has never truly experienced happiness. unbeknownst to even himself, he is jealous of those who know of love and kindness and seeks to snuff these emotions out whenever possible. like a moth to a flame, his jealousy fuels his insatiable rage, allowing him to hone in on his easy prey. those he visits in the night fall asleep at ease with the world but wake to a different perspective, completely void of any happiness they once knew.
however, engulfing the optimism of the living has done little to soothe his hatred, and as a result paisley has only grown more sinister and bestial over the years, devolving from a relatively sane creature to a ravenous, mindless beast incapable of fending off his relentless hatred and jealousy.
PERSONALITY
paisley is rather unintelligent. he relies on instinct and impulse to guide his actions and rarely thinks before he acts. while he can in fact speak, his lack of necessity for vocalization has starved him of any socialization, and thus any form of vocabulary or proper sentence structure does not exist in his speech. if or when he does speak, it's mostly in guttural grunts and single-syllable words.
what he lacks in mental capabilities he more than makes up for in raw physical power. while his interaction with objects in the realm of the living is severely limited, any being he comes across in his own realm is better off running. paisley is incredibly powerful, capable of ripping to shreds most anything he snatches between his razor-sharp claws.
paisley is incredibly distrusting and cautious of others and will go out of his way to preserve his independence and solitude. he is gruff, cruel, and entirely incapable of showing any kind of compassion towards any creature, either living or dead.
APPEARANCE
paisley has assumed the form of a large, disheveled beast. his fur is matted, torn, and bloody in many places, and his wings - far too small and tattered for flight - were likely intended for show rather than to be used in any practical application. he is armed with razor-sharp fangs and equally deadly claws, both of which could rend most anything in half with minimal effort. he is tall with large, broad shoulders and stocky limbs - built for power, not speed.
