My name is French for "Butterfly." I am not French, nor am I of any other Earthly lineage. Rather, I am from heavenly descent, sent to your world to protect your kind against Heaven's fallen angels. Sent down by choice, my soul was placed in a mortal's body. At first, I had no knowledge of my destiny. My body was innocent, unbeknownst of the art of assassination. Varus, my mentor, descended to Earth when my mortal body was ready for the vigorous training required. Slowly, so that my mind wouldn't implode and enter stasis, my memories of before returned.
Varus and I became hunters of our own kind, I by crystal bow and he by the blades of the damned. Though it pained my mortal form, I left my body's family for this. I did not have memories of such, but I began to have feelings for my mentor. Whether or not this was because I was also conflicted with mortal feelings, I know not. I was unaware of his own feelings for me, I figured he saw me as simply a child. Even in my angelic forme, he is eons older than me. I quelled my quiet passion and focused on the slaying of the Fallen.
All was well for years, our mortal formes grew weary. Our angelic formes became more and more dominant. Mortals cannot comprehend these forms - they see it as a flash of light, or perhaps a momentary blackout. It differs for each being. At some point in time, a Fallen overcame Varus and nearly killed him. His wounds prevented him from ever being able to hunt again, and he ascended to Heaven. I was alone.
