I lay still, breathing in the smell of grass and flowers. So still that my fur seemed to melt into the earth, into the life that surrounded me. I heard my human beside me, staring into the sky, though she was silent. Her very presence showed me that she was an earth child, though she still is confused about what may be her element. Sparra knows it too and we discuss it alone sometimes by the steady crackle of the fire, on a cold winters night. I got up, padded over to the dear girl and laid me head on her chest, listening to the beat of her heart. She stroked my ears and hummed the song of earth...
