Presence is based on the feeling one would get after they lose a loved one, that feeling that they're still around. He supposedly eases this by becoming that "presence" and helping people to let go, seeing as the more one holds onto the memory of a loved one, the harder it is for the deceased's soul to move on to the afterlife.
