The mother down the street, her child was different from others. She had trouble learning more so than most and needed her mother to take her places so she would not get lost. The mother wanted her child to be more independent so she could one day live on her own. She left ribbons of the girls favorite color along a trail she could follow from home to school. Hoping this would make things easier for both and one day she may not need them.
For a while this helped until the girls father left. The financial strain from the divorce coupled with more work and caring for her daughter was too much. Desperate for the struggles to end, she went out early and changed the ribbon path. Before going to work she left a note not to worry about the change just follow the ribbons to school. The girl did as she was told following the ribbons through the park and along the water to the pier down, down, down... drown.

Sad but free the woman who was once a mother.
She did not understand there was no value in her life now that she took another.
So I took from her the wicked hands tied her with the ribbons then removed her daughters ears so she could not hear her mother drowning, screaming.
