going home to a fanciful unicorn!
thank you so much, shy!
"hey, wright!"
Jeremy Stoke's voice rings out like a like an emergency siren at three in the morning. Probably because it is three in the morning and probably because it takes something almost nearly as loud to wake me up before the comfortable hour of noon. But whatever, I groan and pull the comforter over my head and hope he forgets that I'm the big lump sleeping on his living room couch. I can pretend that this juvenile act might fool him, even imagine it, but then I hear the squeaking of his penny loafers against the hardwood floor and all hope inside me dies.
Now let's get something straight. There are a few problems I have about sharing an apartment with a "smart guy". One, he's too smart for his own good. He's got all these ideas and thoughts and worries floating and buzzing around in his head and it makes him crazy. He's paranoid about everything: the weather, the stock market, nutrition, time and bloody everything. Two, there's this way he walks (more like freaking struts) and it annoys the crap out of me. He's got this annoying rhythm like there's suppose to be some theme song playing because he knows everything and you don't and thus he owns every inch of ground he walks on. He's got this real wiggle in his hips too, you know, and that's one of the things I hate the most. But most of all, I hate how bloody hard he can hit.
"Wright. You will be getting up now."
His voice was admonishing and a lot closer than it was before. Even through the comforter I can feel the narrowed gray eyes of Jeremy Stokes leering at me. I know why I need to listen to him and what would be coming if I didn't but sleep is kind of sacred to me. It's not like I would be getting much at this point anyway but hey, I've got my stuff to value.
I feel the sting on my skin before I hear the loud smack of a rolled up Time magazine against my butt cheek, sort of like the zap of lightning before the rumble of thunder.
And holy crap did that get me up.
I don't know if it was the force of the impact, the sound, or the fear of him hitting me again, but I was up and jumping into my "professional" pair of pants faster than I'd like to admit. I was so busy trying to slip into my trousers that I almost missed the smug, satisfied smirk Jeremy had pasted on his face. Almost.
You would think that with being a smart guy and all, Jeremy Stokes would be a wimp. He's not. He's really not. That hurt.
I guess heavy textbooks are good for something after all.
I'm Wright, by the way. Oliver Washington Wright.
Please, just call me Wright.
I'm an art student currently living with my best friend, Jeremy Stokes. Hobbies include sleeping, reading, and eating. Attractive? Yes. Talents? I'll get back to that.
*wright's full name is oliver reilly wright. besides some undesirable nicknames from a certain lovestruck secretary, he goes mostly by just "wright".
*said undesirable nicknames would be "o. wright" by the very scary and literal to his name attorney general, and "olivey-olive" by that unmentionable-secretary.
* (ref will be added soon~) he's got smooth dirty blond hair and chunky tortoise-shelled horn-rimmed glasses. he's got freckles and a goofy grin. he usually wears plaid flannel shirts, straight-legged jeans, and green hightops. jeremy stokes does not approve, but can't do much about it.
*wright's very optimistic, even in the darkest situations. he's pretty level-headed and has what he calls a "witty sense of humor". he's a total klutz.
*wright loves cats, sweet tea, and the harry potter series.
stokes is allergic to cats, drinks coffee every morning and night, and hates anything science fiction or fantasy related.
*he minored in art (animation) but he didn't really plan to do anything with it. he sort of doesn't take it seriously, but loves to tell everyone that he's an art student, even though he's no longer in college.
*because his name obviously comes for the ace attorney series, our mr. oliver wright work will in the same field. he's not going to be a defense attorney, or a prosecutor, but an intern (if you could call it that).
*his old friend from middle school, jeremy stokes, became a district attorney right off the bat. they've always been close, but are near polar opposites. while wright has the strive and ambition, stokes has the ability, though lacks the passion. because wright ended up becoming sort of... homeless after art school, stokes keeps him comfy and fed in his office under the title of his "intern".
*the office stokes works for has a rep for being the most dependable when it comes to winning court cases. though, once stokes enrolled, he found most of the staff to unnaturally animated and carefree. from a prosecutor who literally has a birdhouse in her hair, to a janitor who loves breaking out his saxophone, nothing could seem less professional.
*even though they're friends, stokes never hesitates to throw loads of work at his "intern" wright. it's usually organizing paperwork (which wright somehow manages to enjoy) or taking out the wastebins. stokes doesn't really trust wright enough to handle any sort of cleaning quite yet...
*even though there's no paperwork to show wright is actually working under, or at all, with stokes, nobody in the districts office questions it (they all like wright too much to bother, really).
*due to the situation, stokes and wright share an apartment. stokes tries to ignore the fact that this basically means they're living together. but the district office does enjoy their gossiping...
*besides the fact that he's only staying with stokes for company and to survive, wright has a growing interest for the science of law. he's very perceptive, and can tell the instant a person becomes uncomfortable. he's not very good at communicating himself when this happens, though.
