Ymber
The water demon attributed to his soul, granting him his powers. She came to him in his time of need and he has a very casual relationship with her. Initially she was very cynical and critical of his lack of faith in her, but once he fully realized his ability as the master of rain, she mellowed out a bit, and berates him less. After his defection, she seems a lot calmer, instead speaking to his nostalgia and rarely to others.

Info Blurb:
He had always considered his life a string of unfortunate coincidences. The storm was the first: it threw him overboard to that strange coastal city. The timing was the second: he easily fit in with the other applicants, though he simply wanted access to the free food. And the captain's promotion was the third: without experience, this new proctor had no trouble with taking the stray kid under his wing and accepting the burden.
It was obvious he hadn't been meant to go there from the get go though. He had no talent. He could do no magic. While others discovered their elements and found their places within their own squadrons, he was left behind. Only his captain continued to encourage him as he aged past the acceptable range. And to make matters worse, his captain was the Master of Water. To have such an accomplished teacher, and still be unable to tap into his own... He hated it.
Eventually his teacher grew tired of his whining. If he wanted to give up so badly, then the master would take him out himself. In the face of his only support readying to kill him, he found a voice telling him to hold on. When he felt he did not want to give up, he managed to reach onto that tiny thread and felt the power surging through him.
It was a great relief to both of them when he countered. Finally he could step into the place his captain had prepared for him; finally he could have his time frozen, his life given resilience. Finally he could properly join the Order of the Hourglass.
For a time, things seemed to have changed. He moved through the worlds as he was ordered, he saved heroes and directed fate as he was instructed. It was only when his captain seemed distant did he notice while he was concentrating on his own success, the Order had drastically darkened.
It had always been an organization focused for the good of all, but the needs had shrunk to a select few. His captain, along with several others, had noticed, and had spoken out against their superiors. They were against the swell of selfishness. So Kaiu wasn't at all surprised when his teacher disappeared.
He was surprised, however, to find himself named the successor. Granted mastery over the element of water, he found many more eyes trained on his political steps, and it wasn't very long before he had no more patience for fighting as his master had. Berating himself for his cowardice, he left, under the cover of those who could still be trusted.
Thanks to them, he knew that he had some chance for survival, but he still hoped to keep his profile as low as possible. He allowed himself to be aged past his prime, past when they knew him, and retreated to a far world to an isolated temple. In some effort to ease his own guilt, he took in those who had no opportunity just as he was taken in.
But he couldn't avoid them forever.
