Gleeman says "Well I am an idiot." Talie answered without a moment's hesitation. "I mean anything to get out of where I was before. I like having indoor plumbing. Granted I hadn't known about it until after but all the same." She was still scrambling for words due to the closeness.
Gleeman says "W-What?" Talie couldn't exactly back away further into the ground so she just jumped slightly and blinked back at Cate like a deer stuck in headlights, trying not to squirm. "But I did. Is...Is that bad?" Sure, she hadn't known what she was getting into, but she didn't imagine it was enough for Cate to respond like that.
Gleeman says "They asked, pretty much." Talie folded her arms behind her head and thought about it. "I just ran into one of them and thought he was the devil, so I played along." She had honestly not had a very good opinion of Kael the first time she saw him, but anything to get out of being on the run all the time. "And now I'm here. Not much of a story to it really." She laughed.
Gleeman says "...Wait, really?" Talie peered at Cate curiously. "Oh thank god." She let out a relieved sigh, letting her arms fall back onto the grass as well. "That makes everything so much easier. I'll have to get an autograph from you sometime though." She laughed, immediately switching back to her vacation mentality now that the danger had passed. Not really one to worry much, apparently. "Never met anyone actually related to time before~!"
Gleeman says The musician made a grumbling noise as she put her hands over her face. "Just don't get me in trouble, 'kay? I'm on vacation, my usual job is teaching music, I've said that. It's just not at a normal school, it's this kinda... Time headquarters, I guess? I dunno. They keep track of time and different worlds because they have people who know how they're supposed to go. Or not interact. ...Or something." Her brow furrowed as she tried to remember. She had definitely glossed over during that part of the briefing. "And I just broke that stupid interaction law." She whined into her palms. "I always do that."
Gleeman says "Well, yeah." Talie didn't really notice that something was off until she noticed Cate looking at her funny. "...What?" Her brow furrowed momentarily, then her face fell. "...Oh." Secret, right. "Stupid stupid stupid." She hit her forehead with her palm repeatedly. "You've done it now, they'll never let you vacation again." Oddly enough, that was the height of her concern. She fell back into the grass with an aggravated sigh.
Gleeman says "Eh? Really?" Talie reached to take the offered gift with a warm smile. "Thanks, that's really nice of you~!" She turned the small object in her hands before holding it up to look at it move in the sun. "It's funny, Keepers of Time, Order of the Hourglass, and whatever that other one is... You'd think they'd have some kind of time travel workers union to keep all these names right." She laughed once more. It wasn't that she meant to speak freely of her job--not that most people would take it as anything but a joke--she simply always forgot it was supposed to be a secret.
Gleeman says "Well, of course, you can't expect such quality from mass-produced things like mine." Talie was still giggling a little as she put her watch back on. "As for why they use it, search me. I guess it's this whole symbol thing they like, because you can turn it and have it stop, yah know? It's in the name, too." She folded her arms in her lap with a grin. "I'm just in it for the music anyway."
Gleeman says "Nah, it's just crazy. The company I work for, it's kinda their calling card, see?" Stretching out her arm to the sleeve of her jacket rose up, Talie undid the latch on her watch (which only really served to cover up her mark in the first place) and held out her hand for Cate to see. On the inside of her wrist was tattooed a small hourglass, tipped on its side, with scribbled marks underneath it from a language only her fellows would recognize.
Gleeman says An hourglass, even. Talie found herself bursting out laughing again. "Ah man, I can't believe it. Too many coincidences, it's crazy. If only strange people want 'em, I must be living in an alternate weird universe." She couldn't stop laughing. "They'd buy 'em up in a heartbeat, I'll bet yah."
